Energy Saving Week 2025: our conservation commitment

3 min

Energy Saving Week is a week-long initiative designed to empower individuals to take control of their energy consumption, encouraging informed decisions about energy use. The focus is to raise awareness about energy efficiency and provide guidance on how to reduce energy waste. At MBM Omega we are committed to environmental sustainability across all aspects of our business, striving to reduce our energy consumption and our overall environmental impact.

Here are some of the energy-saving initiatives we’ve put in place and what we plan to do in the future:

How have we been working on our energy consumption and sustainability?

Solar Installation at our Headquarters

In May 2023, with partial funding support from LoCase (Low Carbon Across the South & East), we completed the installation of 24 solar panels on the roof of our headquarters. This has made us self-sufficient in electricity, with any surplus now exported back to the grid. This also powers our electric fleet, allowing us to support both our environmental goals and our clients’ sustainability initiatives across London.

LED lighting in our office and warehouse

To further reduce energy waste, we have installed LED lighting throughout our office and warehouse. This highly efficient lighting system significantly lowers our energy consumption, reduces heat production, and ensures longer lasting illumination, contributing to our overall sustainability efforts.

Electric van fleet for local deliveries

In January 2023, we introduced our first electric vans for deliveries across London and surrounding areas. Powered by the electricity we generate ourselves these vans help reduce both our environmental impact and energy usage while supporting our ongoing commitment to a more sustainable business model.

How do we plan to continue our energy saving initiatives in the future?

Becoming net zero by 2030

We are taking steps to better assess and understand our emissions by engaging with Emitwise. This will help us track and evaluate our emissions more effectively as we work towards our goal of achieving net-zero emissions. While we recognise the scale of this challenge, MBM Omega is committed to continuously improving our environmental impact and our energy consumption.

Engaging with suppliers who prioritise sustainability

By working closely with our suppliers and assessing their environmental practices we aim to extend our commitment to sustainability across our supply chain. This allows us to not only monitor our own impact but also help drive energy efficient practices within our suppliers’ operations.

Using eco-friendly packaging

We prioritise eco-friendly packaging including recycled fibreboard boxes, non-plastic alternatives water-based inks, reusable delivery pallets, and compact packaging.

Commitment to ESG beyond packaging

We are also engaging with public sector organisations to offer our expertise in supporting their growing focus on environmental, social and governance concerns. By doing so, we can contribute to decisions that minimise environmental impacts, promote diversity, and reduce the footprint of non-ESG activities.

While we recognise the progress we’ve made in improving our energy usage and raising awareness, MBM Omega is always looking to learn and adapt as the environmental landscape continues to evolve. We are committed to constantly reevaluating our energy consumption, making informed decisions and leading by example – encouraging both our clients and our team members to be mindful of their energy use, knowing that even small changes can create a significant impact.
