Steve Bailey, who is in the customer service team at MBM Omega, took part in London’s Royal Parks Half Marathon on 7 October 2012 for the much loved Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
Steve took to the paths of four of London’s iconic parks to take part in the gruelling 13.1 miles which takes in sites such as Buckingham Palace, The Royal Albert Hall, Big Ben and the London Eye.
Steve completed the run in 2 hours and 14 minutes and so far has raised over £400 for Rainbow Trust, with donations still coming in. “Finishing the run was an incredible feeling, although I was suffering from cramp for the last two miles! Knowing what I raised is going to such a great cause has given me the inspiration to keep on training and I am planning to run again in next year’s London Marathon for Rainbow Trust.”
Steve works for MBM Omega, a leading independent supplier of business products and services. MBM Omega has chosen Rainbow Trust as their official charity partner, working on various fundraising activities throughout the year. The company, suppliers, colleagues and friends all sponsored Steve to help him exceed his target.
Rainbow Trust is a national charity that offers tailor made emotional and practical support to families with a child that has a life threatening or terminal illness. The charity relies on fundraising for 95% of its income so events like this are vital for carrying out the important work the charity does.
Rainbow Trust’s Events Manager, Judith Osorio, says: “The Royal Parks Half marathon is one of our most exciting events of the year. Runners like Steve raise vital funds for Rainbow Trust so we can continue offering support to families who need it most”
